Innovation of the Day: Waitrose launches new summer range inspired by AI trends

Waitrose is set to launch a new summer range inspired by AI-powered food trends, customer insights, and social media. The range includes 65 new and improved products, available both in-store and online from April 17th.

Among the offerings are British classics with a twist, such as a Welsh Rarebit scotch egg, pork and egg gala pie slices, and Ploughman’s piccalilli pie. Additionally, holiday-inspired items like Nduja and mozzarella calzones and a Caprese-inspired aperitivo platter are included, along with American dishes like beef smash burgers with bone marrow and New York style beef and pork hot dogs.

For those seeking plant-based options, Waitrose is offering a beetroot, spinach, and mascarpone quiche and a chargrilled vegetable antipasti salad. The supermarket has also launched a new mocktail range to cater to the growing demand for no and low alcohol beverages, featuring flavors like mojito, pina colada, and watermelon cooler.

Martyn Lee, Waitrose's product innovation and executive chef, emphasized the focus on creating delicious food that is perfect for spontaneous summer moments. The range was curated based on AI food and drink trends, insights from restaurants and food pop-ups, travels abroad, and social media. With flavors from around the world and a celebration of British cuisine, the summer range aims to offer something for every occasion.
