According to the Ipsos Global Happiness report for 2024, there has been a slight dip in happiness levels globally compared to the previous year. While 71% of adults across 30 countries described themselves as happy, this is lower than the peak happiness levels of 77% in 2011. The Netherlands was identified as the happiest country, with 85% of residents reporting happiness, while Hungary and South Korea had the lowest happiness levels at 48%.

Satisfaction with family and friends was high, but there were lower levels of satisfaction with country politics, the economy, and personal financial situations. Younger generations reported feeling less in control of their lives and less satisfied with their mental health compared to older generations.

The study also highlighted concerns around social and political situations in countries, with many people expressing dissatisfaction with these aspects. Despite individual satisfaction in various areas of life, global challenges such as economic disparities and social inequalities were highlighted as factors that affect overall happiness levels.

The study was conducted in 30 countries and surveyed over 23,000 adults aged 18 and older. The findings provide insights into the factors influencing happiness and satisfaction levels worldwide.
