Insight of the Day: Why European consumers are split over the future of AI

According to a recent article from ING, European consumers are split on their views of the future of artificial intelligence (AI). ING conducted a survey with over 13,000 people across Europe to gauge their perceptions of AI and found that opinions on the technology are divided.

Some consumers view AI as a positive force for good, with 44% of respondents agreeing that AI will have a positive impact on society in the next 20 years. These individuals believe that AI will bring benefits such as improved efficiency, increased productivity, and better healthcare outcomes.

However, there is also a significant portion of consumers who are more skeptical of AI. 37% of respondents said they believe AI will have a negative impact on society, citing concerns about potential job losses, invasion of privacy, and the risk of AI being used for nefarious purposes.

Overall, the survey results suggest that European consumers have a nuanced view of AI, recognizing both its potential benefits and risks. This split opinion highlights the need for continued discussion and regulation of AI to ensure that it is developed and deployed responsibly.
