Music: SPRINTS – Deceptacon: Dublin Punk Pays Tribute and Rips It Up

SPRINTS are a Dublin-based garage punk/post-punk band formed in 2019, known for their raw, ferocious sound and high-energy performances. Fronted by Karla Chubb with Sam McCann (bass), Jack Callan (drums) and Zac Stephenson (guitar), they’ve earned critical acclaim with albums like Letter to Self (2024) and All That Is Over (2025), the latter released through City Slang and Sub Pop to strong reviews. Their music blends punk urgency with jagged melodies, resonant lyricism, and a DIY spirit that has made them a standout in the modern punk scene.

“Deceptacon” is the band’s electrifying cover of the classic 1999 track originally by Le Tigre—a beloved dance-punk anthem with a feminist edge. SPRINTS’ version channels their punk intensity while paying homage to the spirit of the original, a song long celebrated in underground scenes and beyond. Dubbed-out guitar lines, fierce vocals, and kinetic momentum reframe the track for a new generation, honouring both their influences and their own audacious energy. It’s released as part of their ongoing evolution and touring push, marking a moment where reverence and reinvention collide.
