Toronto-based trio FEATURETTE deliver an electrifying blend of dark electro-pop and cinematic storytelling. Fronted by Lexie Jay (vocals) and backed by Marc Koecher (keys/synth/guitar) and Jon Fedorsen (drums/synths), the band has carved out their own corner of the alternative scene — where sensuality, grit, and vulnerability meet. Their sound, self-described as “gritty earporn with hooks you can sink your teeth into,” merges the pulse of underground electronic music with anthemic pop production.
Emerging from their subterranean studio, Illegal Audio, FEATURETTE’s journey has been marked by critical acclaim and festival buzz. Their debut LP (2016) catapulted them into the spotlight, earning them a Top 10 JUNO Masterclass finalist spot and COCA’s Emerging Artist of the Year (2017). They’ve shared stages with Milky Chance, X Ambassadors, and others, proving themselves a magnetic live act. Their 2020 follow-up and 2023 EP Unluckiest continued their ascent, earning two Canadian Independent Music Video Awards for Best Overall Music Video and Best in Pop Music Video, as well as a placement on Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia soundtrack.
“Interrogation” is a shadowy, pulse-pounding exploration of control, desire, and self-discovery. Built around pulsing synths, dark basslines, and Lexie Jay’s hypnotic vocals, the track captures the tension between vulnerability and power — a sonic embodiment of FEATURETTE’s cinematic aesthetic. It’s a song that asks questions it never intends to answer, pulling the listener into a feverish exchange between truth and temptation.
Equal parts seductive and unsettling, “Interrogation” proves FEATURETTE’s knack for crafting pop music that doesn’t just sound good — it feels dangerous.
