In the last 20 months, Dublin psych-pop six-piece THUMPER have exploded from local shows to international stages. They’ve toured Europe extensively, sold out headline gigs, opened for Kasabian on their Irish tour, and torn up festival slots at Mad Cool (Madrid), Reading & Leeds (UK), Iceland Airwaves (IS), Haldern Pop (DE), Electric Picnic (IE), United Artists Prague, and more. With a line-up of two drummers and four guitarists, their maximalist wall of sound has long set them apart in Dublin’s booming scene, with BBC Radio 6’s Chris Hawkins praising them for “punching like heavyweights.”
Their debut album Delusions of Grandeur was a massive introduction — a psych-drenched rumble of distortion, hooks, and saccharine melody that earned them a Choice Prize nomination for Irish Album of the Year (2023). They’ve since received UK and international airplay across BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, Radio X, KEXP, Kink, Kerrang, and appeared on Other Voices and The Tommy Tiernan Show.
“The Rip” signals THUMPER’s return in 2025 with the first taste of their highly anticipated sophomore album. The track channels the band’s trademark psych-pop chaos into something darker and sharper — towering guitar squalls, dual-drum intensity, and hooks that cut deep. It’s urgent and anthemic, a song that rips forward with unstoppable momentum while hinting at the rawer, heavier territory the band is about to explore.
